Show me your etchings …
The artist begins by drawing the image on a zinc plate….just as in the same tradition of Rembrandt, Durer, and Goya. The plate is submerged into a special acid over several weeks. Hand-blended inks are pulled each time transferring the image onto 100% rag paper. These magnificent irises are enhanced water-colored by the artist. French foil double matted, museum board mounted for maximum conservation purposes. Serialized numbered and certified signed by artist L.P. Donahue.

Iris Sculpture I & II

The finest of arts…
A bouquet of iris superbly hand-carved and executed in porcelain clay by fine artist Debra Betancourt. Formulated with her own blend of porcelain clay comprised of different earths that are mined from around the world. Each line, each design detail is carefully applied one by one by hand. The same meticulous care is taken with her secret glaze formulas. Debra uses her own lead-free glaze recipes and a modified majolica glazing technique to create the brilliant colors and shadings of real flowers. Specifically designed to meld with her clay and formulated to be transparent, Debra's glazes give depth and definition. Colors are so realistic that during outdoor events her works attract butterflies and bees (which become very confused). A very special gift.
